In the Beginning

I have set up this blog site at the suggestion of many friends who think that my decision to move to Alexandria, Egypt to teach is at best "interesting" and at worst "insane." Perhaps it is somewhere in between. At any rate, rather than clog up Facebook with pithy, short, cryptic messages, this is a place where I can ramble on, should the spirit move me, and only those folks who are actually interested in what is happening in my world can read at their leisure.

The blog title? Well, it is a nod to another non-Egyptian woman who taught in Alexandria and who had her own "agora" or "forum" in which to speak her mind. Hopefully, I will not get dragged through the town naked, flayed and burned to death for my observations!

  2. We shall see if I can keep up with this...although my guess it that not only will I have some interesting observations, but also that I will have some time on my hands without the family with me...the cats are always happy to lay on my computer while I'm working, so they won't be a distraction!

  5. Fantastic, I love the privacy of a blog spot and you feel free to ramble on, it seems that writing and reflecting back help to clarify the experience. I wrote sparsely in my Costa Rica journal, I went through a lot of phases, and laugh at the person who I was when I arrived as opposed to when I left.
